The Tennis Channel

There are about two days out of any given year that there is not a professional tennis tournament taking place - one is my birthday, which is a day I try to forget and give thanks that I am still alive and the other is February 29th, which only occurs, well you know, once every four years in the U.S. I have no clue what other countries and cultures do with that extra day that somehow balances out our celestial calendar.

My own little tennis calendar once revolved around the slams - Australian, French and U.S. Opens and Wimbledon.

I was aware that all the other ATP and WTA tournaments were taking place and I would occasionally catch the action on some odd channel late at night, but I had not experienced the Tennis Channel.

I honestly get confused while watching the Tennis Channel as I am not used to seeing all these matches in settings for which I am less familiar. Prior, I was beginning to believe that any clay (red) match was taking place at Roland Garros and that all sweaty hard court tennis tournaments played in a huge stadium were part of the Australian Open. The seasons and timing weren’t so right. I am the idiot.

Most of the time I have to click the Info button on my remote just to make certain I am not watching a match from two years ago. I love it. I get to see some of the best and those not so, as well as those up-and-coming. It’s fun, whether it be real-time, from last week or last year.

The Tennis Channel does a wonderful job of covering professional tennis and their little snippets, instructional or otherwise, are entertaining.

Over the last few years, we had a difficult time gaining access to the Tennis Channel and we pay a nominal fee to do so. If you do not have access to the Tennis Channel, please contact your local television broadcast provider.

I just finished watching Djokovic take down Nadal at Indian Wells in 2011 – exciting match. Do I need a life? Well, this is it.

We have no marketing or advertising agreement with the Tennis Channel, but we don’t want you to miss out on all the different tennis tournaments and the wonderful programming they provide.
